#SometimesLifeSucks (and it’s okay)

Bella is back + she’s stronger than ever.

I brought her to the office yesterday and now Wednesdays are going to officially be called, “Bella Blended Wednesdays.” It was so fun sharing something I love with a crew of awesome people. The experience took me back to first grade “show and tell”…only this time the wooden T-Rex that I’d spent hours creating with my dad (I used to be obsessed with dinosaurs) was replaced by a grown-up blender (Bella) that makes blended masterpieces of deliciousness.

Life is filled with unexpected pockets of happiness + laughter + love (like Bella blend making).

And sometimes, it isn’t. Sometimes life just sucks. I’m sorry, but it does, and people who know me well know this isn’t something I talk about often, but it’s the truth.

A mentor put it perfectly when he said, “we’re all just trying to do whatever it takes to make it.” We are. We’re all entrepreneurs of life – trying to figure out which path is going to lead us to the most happiness (whatever happiness means to us). And while we try to figure it out, we’re bound to hit bumps + barriers + total crapstorms that knock us down + force us to have personal pity parties. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to wallow in negativity. It’s okay to be sad. It’s OKAY. Why? Because the negative black vortex of unhappiness isn’t going to last forever. It might last longer for some of us, but we’ll eventually pull ourselves out of it.

We’ll meet people who teach us something new or genuinely listen to us and empathize with us, stumble upon a new skill, sweat it out w kettlebells, talk to the professionals, cook something delicious, surround ourselves with family + people who love us, receive an unexpected email from someone who thinks we’re special, hike a snowy trail, or just take each day as it comes.

We have goals and dreams to reach. We have beautiful lives to live. We have people to meet + places to see.

And we will because we’re resilient. We bounce back. (just like starfish!)

Resilience Blend: Blueberries (frozen or fresh), shredded coconut, almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, spinach, patience

*I’m reading a great book right now, “Resilience: Why Things Bounce Back” – it’s awesome + you should read it if you need proof that you’re resilient.
